Search by destination, language and experience type. Browse Insider profiles, videos and reviews. Pay the £49.99 annual Explorer access fee, then contact your chosen Insider directly. They are paid directly by you — Detour takes no commission on the experience.

The £49.99 annual fee gives you full access to the platform for a year: unlimited Insider searches, messaging, reviews and the Hidden Gems map. One payment per year — not per trip or experience.

Yes — language matching is central to how Detour Global works. Filter Insiders by the language you speak and find someone who can communicate with you fluently throughout your experience.

Yes. Every Insider completes a government ID check before going live. They also build reputation through our verified two-way review system. Look for the Verified badge on profiles.

Contact our safety team immediately at safety@detourglobal.co.uk — available 24/7. You can also report an Insider from their profile at any time. We respond to urgent reports within 2 hours.

Yes — within 14 days of purchase if you haven't used the platform to contact an Insider. Email support@detourglobal.co.uk and we'll process it within 5 working days.

Through Insider subscriptions, Detour Explorer platform access fees, promoted placements and advertising partnerships. We never take commission from what Insiders earn directly from travellers.

No formal qualifications are required. You need genuine local knowledge, good communication and enthusiasm. In some regulated markets, local licensing may apply — we'll tell you during onboarding.

Directly by the traveller — in whatever form you both agree (cash, bank transfer, etc.). Detour Global only charges your monthly subscription. Your earnings are entirely yours.

Yes. You can list multiple locations and languages on a single profile. Many Insiders operate across several cities or offer multilingual experiences to broaden their reach.

Bronze (£9/mo), Silver (£19/mo), Gold (£29/mo) and Platinum (£39/mo). Each tier unlocks better visibility, more features and higher placement in search results. You can upgrade or downgrade any time. See the full breakdown on the Become an Insider page.

By upgrading your subscription plan. Higher tiers also require a minimum number of verified reviews — Bronze: 0, Silver: 5, Gold: 20, Platinum: 50. Our team reviews eligibility automatically.

Yes, any time from your account settings. Your profile remains active until the end of the paid period, then reverts to free starter (no paid tier). No cancellation fees.
