- Account data: name, email address, password (hashed)
- Profile data: photo, languages, city, bio, intro video (Insiders)
- Usage data: pages visited, searches, clicks, session duration
- Communication data: messages sent via the platform, support tickets
- Payment data: subscription billing (processed by Stripe — we store only the last 4 digits and expiry)
- Verification data: government ID document (Insiders only, reviewed and deleted within 30 days)
- Reviews: text and ratings submitted by users
3. How We Use Your Data
- Providing and improving the platform
- Matching Detour Explorers with relevant Insiders
- Processing subscription payments via Stripe
- Sending transactional emails (receipts, confirmations, safety alerts)
- Preventing fraud and enforcing Community Standards
- Analytics to understand how the platform is used (aggregated, anonymised where possible)
- Marketing emails — only with your explicit consent, opt-out available at any time
4. Legal Basis for Processing
- Contract: processing necessary to provide the service you signed up for
- Legitimate interests: fraud prevention, platform security, analytics
- Consent: marketing emails and non-essential cookies
- Legal obligation: where required by law
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:
- Stripe — payment processing (PCI-DSS compliant)
- AWS / cloud infrastructure — secure hosting
- Analytics providers — anonymised usage data only
- Law enforcement — when legally required
6. Data Retention
Account data is retained for the duration of your account plus 2 years after deletion. Payment records are retained for 7 years for legal compliance. ID verification documents are deleted within 30 days of review.

Under UK GDPR you have the right to: access your data, correct inaccurate data, request deletion, restrict processing, data portability, and object to processing. To exercise any right, email privacy@detourglobal.co.uk. We respond within 30 days.
