1. About Detour Global

Detour Global ("we", "us", "the platform") is an online marketplace that connects independent travellers ("Detour Explorers") with independent local guides ("Detour Insiders"). Detour Global is operated by Detour Global Ltd, registered in England and Wales.

2. User Accounts

To access the platform you must register an account with accurate information. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your credentials. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.

3. Insiders Are Independent

Detour Insiders are independent contractors, not employees, agents or representatives of Detour Global. Detour Global does not employ, supervise or direct Insiders. Any agreement for an experience is made directly between the Detour Explorer and the Insider.

4. Detour Explorer Access Fee

Detour Explorers pay an annual platform access fee (£49.99/year) to search, browse and contact Insiders. This fee covers platform access only and does not constitute payment for any experience. The fee is non-refundable except where required by applicable consumer law or within 14 days of purchase if no Insider has been contacted.

5. Insider Subscriptions

Insiders pay monthly subscriptions to list their profile on the platform. Subscriptions are billed in advance and auto-renew unless cancelled. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period. Detour Global reserves the right to modify subscription pricing with 30 days' notice.

6. Payments Between Users

All payments for experiences are made directly between Detour Explorers and Insiders. Detour Global does not process, hold or guarantee these payments. Any dispute regarding experience payments is solely between the Detour Explorer and the Insider.

7. Reviews

Reviews must be honest, based on real experiences, and comply with our Community Standards. We reserve the right to remove reviews that are fraudulent, abusive or in breach of these terms. We do not edit review content.

8. Prohibited Conduct

• Creating false profiles or reviews
• Harassment, discrimination or abusive conduct towards any user
• Sharing personal contact details to circumvent the platform before connecting
• Advertising services outside the permitted categories
• Any activity that violates applicable law

9. Intellectual Property

All platform content, branding, design and code is the property of Detour Global Ltd. Users retain ownership of content they upload (photos, videos, reviews) but grant Detour Global a licence to display that content on the platform.

10. Assumption of Risk & Waiver of Liability

By using the Detour Global platform, every Detour Explorer and every Detour Insider expressly acknowledges and agrees to our User Liability Waiver & Assumption of Risk. In summary:

• Detour Global is a technology platform only. We do not employ, supervise, direct, or control either Explorers or Insiders.
• All risks associated with meeting, travelling with, or hosting another user are assumed entirely by the individuals involved.
• Detour Global is not responsible for any unforeseen issues, incidents, disputes, losses, injuries, damages, or claims that may arise between Explorers and Insiders, whether separately or together, before, during, or after any experience.
• Both parties release Detour Global from all liability related to user-to-user interactions, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

The full Waiver forms part of these Terms & Conditions by reference. If you do not agree to the Waiver, you must not use the platform.

11. Limitation of Liability

Detour Global provides the platform as a marketplace only. We are not liable for the conduct of any Insider or Detour Explorer, or for any loss, injury or damage arising from an experience arranged through the platform, to the fullest extent permitted by law. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the total amount you have paid to Detour Global in the 12 months preceding the claim.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify registered users by email at least 14 days before material changes take effect. Continued use of the platform after that date constitutes acceptance.
