Every Insider completes a government ID check before their first listing goes live. Verified Insiders display a badge travellers can trust. Re-verified annually.
Safe Meet Points
All first meetings take place at agreed public locations — cafés, hotel lobbies, transport hubs. Insiders share the meet point in advance via the platform.
Two-Way Reviews
Both travellers and Insiders leave reviews after every experience. This two-way accountability keeps the community honest and self-regulating.
Easy Reporting
Flag any Insider or traveller from their profile. Our safety team reviews every report within 24 hours. Urgent reports are escalated within 2 hours.
Secure Payments
Detour Global subscriptions and access fees are processed via Stripe — PCI-DSS compliant, encrypted end-to-end. Direct Insider payments never touch our servers.
Privacy by Default
Personal contact details are never shared between travellers and Insiders through the platform until both parties agree to connect. Your data stays yours.
24/7 Safety Line
Emergency support available around the clock. If something goes wrong during an experience, our team is reachable any time via in-app or email.
Community Standards
All users agree to our Community Standards at signup — covering respect, honesty and conduct. Violations can result in immediate suspension.
Local Compliance
Insiders in regulated tourism markets are required to hold any locally required licences. We check this as part of onboarding in applicable countries.

Leave an honest review — positive or negative. Your review protects the next traveller. Flag anything concerning immediately.
For Insiders
Your safety matters too.
Insiders have the same right to feel safe. You can review traveller profiles before agreeing to connect, and report any conduct that breaches community standards.
Screen before you confirm
Read the traveller's profile and any prior reviews left by Insiders. You are never obligated to accept a connection.
Public meet points
Always start at a public location. You set the meet point — travellers come to you. Never share your home address through the platform.
Report and block
One tap to block or report any traveller. We take Insider reports seriously — our team responds within 12 hours and can remove accounts immediately.
